Hello World!

This is my first article.

I’ll start by reflecting about I.T. workers..

The Information Technology sector is growing at a fast pace, with unforeseen ramifications. Universities are opening more and more courses in the technology sector and it seems like everybody know about computers..

However,as a responsible for the Technology sector of my company I often realize that although there are many courses in offer, the quality and the specialization of I.T. workers are sometimes scarce. On the other hand, the value and prestige of good I.T. professionals are not much accounted. But how to improve this scenario and give I.T. workers ways to improve their development?

The tools are already in the hands of professionals:The most important –The Internet!

Navegando a Internet

"Navegando"a Internet ("Surfing"the Web)

Through The Internet it’s possible to search a never ending world of information sources, libraries, encyclopedias, other professionals through social networks, blogs, websites, etc.

It’s todays professional responsibility to search for information and gain knowledge. Information is more than ever “at the point of a fingertip”and who doesn’t get updated will be left behind.

I’ve read an article on a blog sometime ago talking about whether I.T. professionals were becoming « Blue Collar » workers (Are I.t. Workers Blue Collar?). Are really I.T. workers becoming that? We can’t stop but thinking about it. Nowadays there are plenty of colleges offering technology courses and degrees and I question myself about the teaching quality of some of them.

Are we going to be “Blue Collar”workers then?

No. Not all at least.

I.T. is evolving at a never seen rate, with big areas of knowledge arising everyday. The ones who don’t evolve together will be left behind. The ones that don’t want to think anymore will be left behind. The ones who just want to format computers and install the “basic software pack”will be left behind. Is that what you want to do? I know not.

So go after knowledge. Perfect yourself. Learn more. Research more. Argue more. Learn a foreign language. Learn a new programming language. See what others are doing….

…and build a blog! (just kidding with this last one) heheh :)
